Jaaber, Zoller garner city league honors
Ivy League Player of the Year Ibrahim Jaaber was named to the Philadelphia Big 5's all-league first team yesterday.
The junior led the Quakers with 18.2 points per game this season en route to an Ancient Eight title. Jaaber also ranked third nationally in steals per game and set a new Ivy record with 93 swipes on the year.
Classmate Mark Zoller, also a first-team All-Ivy selection, was named to the second team. The forward finished with 12.7 points and led the Ivy League in rebounds at 7.3 per game.
Villanova's Randy Foye was named Big 5 Outstanding Player of the Year. Wildcat teammates Allan Ray and Kyle Lowry were also named to the first team along with La Salle's Steven Smith and Temple's Mardy Collins.
Jermaine Thomas of La Salle, Chet Stachitas of Saint Joseph's, Antwayne Robinson of Temple and Villanova's Mike Nardi rounded out the second team.
The players will be honored at a banquet next Monday in Center City.

W. Lax's Jann receives Ivy defensive honor
Junior Karen Jann was named Ivy League defensive player of the week this week. The Summit, N.J., native helped the No. 20 Quakers to a pair of wins last week over Harvard and No. 13 Penn State.
The Quakers held the Nittany Lions to their lowest scoring output of the season in an 8-6 victory at Franklin Field.
Jann has 13 ground balls in 12 games this season.
