Burglary July 17 -- The owner of a home at 4011 Pine St. reported that a Dell laptop -- valued at $1,800 -- was stolen from the first-floor living area between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. There was no sign of forced entry.
July 16 -- The third-floor apartment of a 22-year-old female student at 4101 Spruce St. was broken into between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 10:05 p.m. Saturday. An IBM laptop and assorted jewelry with a total estimated value of $2,500 were stolen.
July 16 -- Between 3 and 5 p.m., an unknown person entered the unsecured third-floor bedroom of a 20-year-old male student in a fraternity house on the 3700 block of Locust Walk. The burglar stole a Dell laptop as well as the student's wallet, which contained various forms of identification. The items were valued at $1,500.
July 15 -- In order to gain access to the apartment -- located on the 3900 block of Spruce Street -- of a 20-year-old male student, a burglar pushed an air-conditioning unit into the home and entered through the window between 5 p.m. on July 10 and 6 p.m. Friday. A Dell monitor and keyboard as well as various DVDs and CDs -- valued at $1,700 in total -- were stolen.
July 15 -- A male Drexel University student reported that the door of his apartment on the 4100 block of Walnut Street was forced open between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. A Sony computer, Nintendo Gamecube and other assorted items -- valued at $1,000 in all -- were stolen.
Robbery July 14 -- Robert Benson -- a 25-year-old resident of the city's Mantua section -- was arrested by University police for allegedly robbing a 24-year-old man at gunpoint. At about 2:15 a.m. at 36th and Market streets, Benson allegedly stole the victim's wallet and money clip. He is being charged with robbery, weapons violations, theft, threats, aggravated assault and other related charges.
