Penn golf teams do well over weekend

After Saturday's rainouts, the men's and women's golf teams knew that they only had one round to make an impact, and they did just that.

The men's team finished third out of 12 teams at the Peter Rossin Memorial Collegiate Classic at Washington and Jefferson College.

Leading the way for the Quakers was junior Derek Rogers, who shot a two-over 74 -- good for sixth place. Sophomore Sean Barrett came in one shot behind his teammate with a 75.

The Penn women's team, led by Meg Bender's second-place finish, came in fourth out of 15 schools at the Georgetown Invitational.

Bender, a freshman, shot an 80, with senior Melissa Aylor one shot behind her in a sixth-place tie.
