Penn Police Detectives arrested a man unaffiliated with the University around 4 p.m. Wednesday for assaulting a male Penn Parking employee with a wooden baseball bat.
The crime occurred around 11 p.m. on Jan. 23 near 36th and Chestnut streets.
Binyam Ghebreegziabher was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possession of an instrument of crime.
Police said that the men apparently knew each other, but did not offer any possible reason for the attack.
Penn Police had been investigating the case for more than a week before they obtained an arrest warrant.
Ghebreegziabher is now in the custody of the Philadelphia Police Department, where will remain in custody until he can meet bail. No bail has been set, and Ghebreegziabher is expected to have a preliminary hearing within the next week.
