Basketball teams set to hold annual scrimmages

The men's and women's basketball teams will hold the annual Red and Blue scrimmage tonight at the Palestra.

Both teams will face off against each other half an hour apart starting at 7 p.m. The men's team will come on at 7, holding a half-hour scrimmage. Then at 7:30 p.m, the women's team will come out for its own scrimmage.

All Quakers fans are welcome and encouraged to attend this early opportunity to see both the Penn men's and women's teams in action at the Palestra free of charge.

YES announces 2004-05 Ivy basketball schedule

The YES Network and the Ivy League have released the network's basketball television schedule for the 2004-05 season.

The network will broadcast six games in its third season of covering Ivy League basketball.

The Penn-Yale women's game tips off the YES schedule on Jan. 28, as the Quakers begin defending their 2003-04 Ivy League crown.

The Ivy men get into action Feb. 4, when coach James Jones leads his Yale squad into Columbia to face brother Joe and the Lions.

The YES audience will get a look at new Dartmouth coach Terry Dunn when the Big Green plays at Brown Feb. 12.

The Feb. 18 game features a matchup of 10-4 teams from last season, as Penn plays at Brown. The Bears and Quakers tied for second place in the Ivy League last season.

Defending league champion Princeton will be on YES twice during the upcoming season, facing Cornell on Feb. 26 and hosting Harvard on March 4.
