At approximately 2 a.m. Thursday, a 19-year-old male student was assaulted by an unknown male on the 4000 block of Walnut Street.
The student had been walking west on Walnut Street with two friends when a passing gray Toyota blew its horn at them for an unknown reason. The Toyota's driver then stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road and proceeded to exchange words with the students, according to police reports.
The driver, a white male in his 20s, then reportedly got out of the car and proceeded to punch the student. He then got back in his car and drove away.
The student was not seriously injured and did not require hospitalization.
It is unknown whether or not the student or his friends made any attempt to fight back against the driver.
Information about this incident was scarce, as Penn Police Detective Frank DeMeo speculated that the students involved in the incident may have been drinking.
"When there's a lack of information at that hour of the morning, it's usually pretty indicative" of drinking, DeMeo said.
