Football seniors among DI-AA's best
A couple of preseason All-American nods by the Sports Network will certainly boost the confidence of the Penn football team as they look to defend their Ivy crown in the 2001 season.
Penn senior quarterback Gavin Hoffman garnered second team preseason All-America honors, while senior defensive tackle John Galan was an honorable mention selection.
Both players were also selected, along with Penn senior Rob Milanese, as being among the top Division I-AA returning players for the upcoming season at their respective positions by the Sports Network's Tony Moss.

Braves put DeRosa back in starting nine
Penn grad Mark DeRosa returned to the Atlanta Braves' starting lineup on Independence Day after the Braves' usual starter at shortstop, Rafael Furcal, suffered a season-ending dislocation of his left shoulder on July 3.
DeRosa collected five hits and two walks in 13 at-bats in those five games between Furcal's injury and the All-Star Break. For the season, DeRosa boasts a .420 batting average and a .492 on-base percentage in 50 at-bats and 22 games.
DeRosa will likely start tonight against the Baltimore Orioles.
