PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Michael Malan rushed for a pair of second-half touchdowns Saturday as Brown retained a share of first place in the Ivy League with a 17-10 victory over Harvard. Chris Menick rushed for 110 yards on 29 carries for Harvard (5-3, 3-2), and scored on an 11-yard run. Malan's four-yard scoring run that put Brown ahead to stay with 12:33 left in the game was set up by a 44-yard interception return by Melvin Justice. Harvard's comeback attempts repeatedly came up dry down the stretch. Mike Giampaolo missed a 37-yard field goal with 8:47 to go. And Brad Wilford's fourth-down pass from the Brown 16 fell incomplete. ITHACA, N.Y. -- Joe Walland threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns to lead Yale in a 37-20 win over Cornell Saturday. Walland hit Eric Johnson for both touchdowns. His five-yard touchdown pass to Johnson put Yale (7-1, 4-1) within one point of Cornell's lead 12:34 into the second quarter. Cornell (5-3, 3-2) then lost its small advantage when Yale's Todd Tomich returned a punt 41 yards for a touchdown that put the Elis ahead 20-14 with one minute left in the first half. Walland broke Yale career records for passes completed (371) and attempted (684) in the game. Walland's last touchdown pass to Johnson was the 30th of his career, which also tied a school record. Johnson finished the game with eight catches for 92 yards. Cornell could not hold back Yale's offense in the second half, allowing them a field goal in the third quarter and two touchdowns in thirty seconds in the fourth quarter. NEW YORK -- Columbia won the battle between the bottom teams in the Ivy League as Johnathan Reese rushed for 79 yards and the decisive touchdown en route to a 21-14 victory over Dartmouth. It was the second straight win in the series for the Lions (3-5, 1-4), who have taken two straight from Dartmouth (1-7, 1-4) after dropping 14 in a row. Columbia, the Big Green and Princeton are tied for last in the league. Reese gave the Lions a 21-0 lead with a 14-yard TD run 2:17 into the second half. It capped a three-play, five-yard drive after one of three Dartmouth turnovers. Columbia's second scoring drive took only three plays and encompassed just four yards as Mike Glynn threw a three-yard TD to Armand Dawkins for a 14-0 lead 48 seconds before halftime. Earlier in the quarter, Jeff McCall fired a 77-yard scoring pass to Justin Meadlin.
