The conference, which includes Drexel and Delaware, was weary of being confused with other abbreviated leagues like the NEC (Northeast Conference) and MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). The move also puts America East at the top of the alphabetical listings of conferences, which the league expects will give it more national visibility. Last Friday, Walker was named men's basketball coach and Athletic Director at Division II Chaminade. Located on the island of Oahu near Honolulu, Chaminade enjoys some fame as a basketball school as a result of hosting the Maui Invitational, an early-season tournament that regularly features the likes of Duke and Villanova. Walker left Cornell this spring after compilinga 27-51 record (12-30 Ivy League) in three seasons in charge of the Big Red. – JS Glanville struggling, but still in bigs Playing only sporadically in the crowded Chicago Cubs outfield, former Penn outfielder Doug Glanville has yet to find a groove as a major-league hitter. Since being called up from Iowa on June 8 , the 1991 first-round draft pick has been used a spot starter in left field. Through games of July 1, Glanville has made 12 appearances, but only has 29 at bats. He collected seven hits, for a .241 batting average. Three went for extra bases -- two doubles and a triple.
