Who's Who at the University of Pennsylvania

Thomas Gerrity, Wharton School Dean As dean, Gerrity oversees Wharton's graduate and undergraduate divisions -- more than 4,700 students, including executive MBA, evening school and doctoral degree candidates. Because he is in his fifth year as dean, Gerrity's performance was reviewed this year by a committee of faculty members and students. Gerrity, a leading authority on business change and the strategic use of information technology, is the second Wharton dean to come from the private sector. Under his leadership, Wharton's graduate division has been ranked first in the nation by Business Week magazine. Before coming to the University, Gerrity served as president of CSC Consulting, a division of the Computer Sciences Corporation. He has worked to make Wharton's curriculum compatible with the increasingly international business world, preparing students for the global marketplace. Gerrity received his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engin- eering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his doctorate from MIT's Sloan School of Management. Gerrity was also a Rhodes Scholar in Economics at the University of Oxford. And the dean has an athletic side, too -- he has run the Boston Marathon several times.
