Heading into battle against the No. 1-ranked team in the country, the final score won't be the only thing  that concerns Penn on Friday.

This weekend, men's soccer started its season with a win, women's finished with its third straight tie, and field hockey fell to tough competition. 

The first week of classes is marked by fall sports both on the road and on familiar home ground.

This summer was a busy one for Penn Athletics, as three coaches resigned and one retired from coaching altogether.

This year notes an exciting prospect of tracking progress in each team; whether they wish to forget poor records and begin on a blank slate, or build upon winning momentums of last fall.

The six Penn athletes all traveled to Italy on July 19 to begin final preparations for their individual events in the rowing championship.  

The team placed ninth in the varsity eight, 11th in the second varsity eight, and 17th in the fours event over three days of racing.

Numerous Olympians had standout performances at the Penn Relays, including two-time Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin, who broke a meet record.
