While the Quakers' victory brought head coach Al Bagnoli's win total to the century mark, Norries Wilson was just getting started as head coach of Columbia. The Lions pulled an impressive 37-7 upset victory over Fordham, scoring 20 points off of turnovers.

Special teams made the difference
EASTON, Pa. - Penn football coach Al Bagnoli is no stranger to special-teams disasters: His team fell victim to several of them last year. He must have felt an ironic satisfaction, then, to see his team force two of those miscues in key situations on Saturday.
Off and running
They're back. After a four-game losing streak that put last year's team under .500 in the Ivy League, the Quakers of old have seemingly returned.
Raising the bar
For years, Penn junior Collette DeBenedetto lifted weights as a means. It was just another facet of her workout, another way to improve her track and field career. Now, weightlifting is her end - her sport.

As Al Bagnoli twiddled his victory cigar, one has to wonder what he was thinking about. Was he enjoying his 100th win as Penn's head coach? The end of a four-game losing streak? Beating a top-25 team? Seeing his starting sophomore quarterback begin his career 11-for-11? Instead, Bagnoli may have been realizing that his front seven put up a dominant performance, holding an offense that scored 28 points in the first half alone a week earlier to 11 against the Quakers.

The Penn men's tennis team came up short at the Virginia Invitational, despite a successful first day. Senior Mikhail Bekker and sophomores Jonathan Boym and Justin Fox all won tough three-set matches on Friday to advance to the quarterfinals, but junior Jason Pinsky lost his first match.
Cross Country teams find success at Lock Haven Invitational
If preseason success is any indication of a team's chances in weeks to come, then both the Penn men and women's cross country teams are heading toward very productive seasons. The men's team earned a first-place finish at Saturday's Lock Haven Invitational.

With a 2-1 victory over Penn on Saturday, Cornell's field hockey team jumped out to 4-0 for the first time in its history. But the perfect record was broken up by Vermont yesterday in a 2-0 Big Red loss. Despite 11 shots, the Quakers were only able to convert once in Saturday's game.

Sophomore QB gets job done in first-ever start
EASTON, Pa. - How Robert Irvin would perform in his collegiate debut was almost as big a question as whether he would be the one lining up under center on Saturday. He answered both questions - not just by winning the starting job (several weeks ago, according to coach Al Bagnoli), but by earning the right to keep it.
Volleyball finally earns first win
After earning its first win this season in Fullerton, Calif., the Penn women's volleyball team celebrated California style: with a trip to the beach feasting on In-n-Out burgers. At the Holiday Inn Buena Park Fullerton Classic last weekend, the Quakers fell to San Diego State on Friday afternoon, 0-3, and to Cal State Fullerton, 3-1, on Saturday morning.
Allegiance Bowl eludes Quakers
Penn sprint football quarterback Mike Loguidice led his team in a valiant attempt to win, but mistakes and a poor night of blocking dampened all hopes for capturing the Allegiance Bowl title. In the end, the Quakers fell to Cornell, 20-12. In the loss, Loguidice performed well, completing 15-of-25 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns.
It certainly wasn't clean or pretty, but as far as the men's soccer team was concerned, it worked.

What a weekend for Jessica Fuccello. The freshman forward notched two game-winners over the weekend when the Quakers traveled to play UNC-Greensboro and East Carolina. The two wins kept the Quakers' undefeated season alive, moving them to 4-0-1 overall. "I was kind of on a streak of non-scoring," Fuccello said.
Opponent spotlight: Leopards have high hopes on senior QB's back
Four years ago at Lafayette, quarterback Marko Glavic was ending a career as the Patriot League's all-time leading passer, and an average-sized kid out of Loveland, Ohio - population 11,219 - was running the Leopards' scout team. Fast forward to 2006, and that kid is now staking his own claim to the history books.
