The worst losses are the games that slip away. It seems more like your opponent did not really win, they just did enough not to lose. Fortunately in sports, a new season brings second chances and an opportunity at redemption for the ones that got away.

Playing 10 games in only a six-day span, the Penn softball team will be hitting its midseason stride by the time the rest of school returns from spring break. During their stint in Orlando, Fla. for the Rebel Spring Games, the Quakers will see five doubleheaders through Friday.

Softball season pre: Offense? Check. Pitching? No promises.

Confidence breeds success, and that is exactly the ingredient that Leslie King has brought to the Penn softball team. For a team that has not won a league title since 1981 or produced a winning record in 20 years, King, heading into her fourth year with the Quakers, has cultivated a mindset necessary for a championship team.

Wrestlers finish one point from a sweep

Looking for a way to build momentum heading into the postseason? Try winning the biggest meet of the season, blowing out a conference rival and breaking a historic school record - in one weekend. The No. 20 Penn wrestling team may have waited until the last meet of the season to finally notch a win against a ranked opponent.

An Ivy League title is nice, but the National Championship remains the real prize. The Penn wrestling team will likely decide its Ancient Eight title fate when it wrestles Cornell and Columbia tonight and Saturday, respectively, in New York. But if the team is able to end Cornell's bid for a five-peat, it would only be a stepping stone.

After sweep, a monkey still on Penn's back

After a sweeping performance this past weekend at the Palestra, the No. 14 Penn wrestling team finds itself in a comfortable position. The Quakers have remained incredibly consistent this season, beating every team they were supposed to beat. However, they have also lost to every team that they were supposed to lose to.

Three straight wins in one weekend - the best medicine for a losing streak. After a tough loss to Hofstra last week, Penn wrestling responded in dominating fashion, winning its three varsity matches this past weekend at the Palestra. The Quakers started out strong Friday morning with a 33-4 decision over Brown.

There's nothing like rushing into the season. After its first match against Saint Joseph's on Wednesday, the men's tennis team will play two more this weekend, beginning with Central Flordia tonight. Last season, Penn coach Mark Riley and his team were able to pull out a 4-3 victory over host Central Florida, a matchup that will be played at Levy Pavillion this year.

At long last, No. 14 grapplers cross paths with Pride

Familiar territory and a familiar opponent may be the formula for capturing the biggest win of the season this Friday at the Palestra. The No. 14 Penn wrestling team will face the fourth top-10 opponent out of its last five dual opponents when it hosts a No.

M. Squash will dress to impress at F

What does a team do against a severely overmatched opponent? If that team is Penn men's squash, it pushes down on the gas pedal just as hard as ever. This Saturday, the No. 4 Quakers (6-0) will head to nearby Lancaster, Pa. to face No. 17 Franklin & Marshall (6-6).
