On Franklin Field, senior Cam Countryman is one of the top wide receivers for the Red and Blue. Behind the scenes for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Countryman serves as president.

Benjamin Franklin's noble cause lives on in a group of Quakers who work to ensure that there is no perspiration without representation. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at the University of Pennsylvania is composed of 59 student-athletes representing each of the school's 31 varsity teams, and is dedicated to ensuring that student-athletes have a voice within the Athletics department. Each coach is asked to nominate one or two of their players to serve as the team's SAAC representative.


Penn basketball has a busy schedule slated for this winter break, five games in total. But if you’re reading the team’s upcoming schedule, you may need be inclined to do a double-take at one matchup up in particular. That’s because on the Saturday after finals, the Red and Blue are set to take on ... Ursinus?

We’re in uncharted territory. With back-to-back wins over top 5 teams from the men’s side along with another perfect start to the season on the women’s side, associate head coach Gilly Lane finds himself as a leader of one of the most successful Penn squash programs in school history. “It hasn’t really sunk in yet,” Lane said.

Fresh off leading Penn football to an Ivy League title, senior linebacker Tyler Drake was awarded the Bushnell Cup as the Ancient Eight's Defensive Player of the Year Monday. In a ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, Drake beat out fellow finalist Dartmouth senior linebacker Will McNamara for the honor. "He's a tireless worker.

Junior Rochelle Dong put together another strong meet, breaking school records in the 100-yard fly, 100 back and 50 free.

Matched up against a field composed mainly of Division III programs — including Kenyon College, the nation’s top-ranked Division III squad — the Red and Blue dominated at Kenyon’s Total Performance Invitational, winning 28 events across men’s and women’s competition en route to two commanding team victories.




Star senior Eric Schultz is certainly no stranger to fast times, earning second-team All-Ivy honors last season while also representing the Quakers in three different events at NCAA's. At one of the fastest pools in the nation at Kenyon, he can expect more fast times this week.

Division I, meets Division III. On Thursday, the Quakers will compete against teams from Kenyon College, Johns Hopkins, and Carnegie Mellon in the first of three days at the Total Performance Invite hosted by Kenyon, in Gambier, Ohio.
