Seventh annual Relay for Life kicks off

On April 8 and 9, students attending Relay for Life will participate in an all-night celebration of the lives of cancer victims and the work of the American Cancer Society to promote awareness and work towards a cure.


While students were disappointed when they discovered they still had class Thursday morning, deciding whether or not to close the University was a “very challenging decision” for officials.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces for children suffering from medical hair loss. Thus far, more than 50 individuals have pledged to have their hair cut at this year’s event planned for April 3.

The 11th annual Black Heritage Week — sponsored by UMOJA, Penn’s black student group — commenced on Sunday night and will end on Feb. 5 with a ten-year anniversary celebration of Makuu, the black cultural center.
