Entrepreneur Magazine named Wharton junior Aaron Goldstein Top College Entrepreneur of 2014 after he developed FeverSmart, a device that monitors temperature and sends cellphone alerts when a fever spikes. Goldstein came up with the idea for the device after his freshman-year roommate, fellow Wharton junior Colin Hill, had to keep his temperature constantly monitored while being treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Wenik | Penn basketball needs to find an offensive identity
Take a step back into the world of 1990’s rap, if you will, and pause to consider Penn coach Jerome Allen surveying the state of his team with a withering look somewhat akin to the gaze of the Nurse Ratched figure in Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” video. “I don’t really know where we’re at,” he said when asked to describe his team’s progress following last night’s 82-67 loss to La Salle.

Penn listed as No. 33 on easiest colleges to get laid at
Looking to get laid in college. As a Penn student, apparently you are in the right place. Youngrager.com listed Penn as the 33rd easiest college to get laid at in the United States, right behind Temple and one spot ahead of Oregon. Penn has appeared near the top of many lists in 2014, as College Factual listed Penn as the top college in the nation and Playboy ranked Penn as the top party school in the nation. But this one seems a bit unique.

Penn women's hoops hangs on against UMBC
Last season, Sydney Stipanovich became the first player in Ivy League history to win the Ancient Eight's Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards in the same season. If the sophomore puts together a few more games like her performance on Monday night against UMBC, she may add Player of the Year to her already loaded trophy case in the near future. Nine days after Penn women's basketball's disappointing loss to Drexel, one in which Stipanovich notched only eight points and three rebounds in 23 minutes, the Red and Blue rebounded in style with a 69-63 win over the Retrievers due in large part to the second-year center's incredible outing. Despite battling a UMBC (5-5) frontcourt highlighted by three players over six-feet tall, Stipanovich recorded 29 points and 14 rebounds while senior forward Kara Bonenberger added 14 points and eight boards of her own as the Quakers (5-4) won for only the second time in December. After the game, Penn coach Mike McLaughlin was not only impressed with his frontcourt's production, but the ability of his team to respond to a short winter break. "This is a group that only got four or five days home for Christmas yet they all probably wanted to spend more time at home," McLaughlin said.
Timothy Hamlett, a junior at Penn and former athlete on the University's track and field team, has been reported missing.

James Dupree to keep studio, fending off eminent domain
We wrote back in September about how Penn School of Design graduate James Dupree was fighting to save his art studio from an eminent domain claim. Now, Dupree has won his battle, as the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority has dropped its condemnation of his property, citing rising legal fees. The PRA had gotten approval to build a supermarket on the space, but Dupree challenged the claim in court.
Amid the fallout of Rolling Stone's article on an alleged gang-rape at a University of Virginia frat party, sexual assault at college has been a topic on the minds of many in the last month. The New York Times published an article on Sunday about an accused rapist and his accuser coexisting at Columbia. Emma Sulkowicz, a senior at Columbia, garnered national attention for her thesis project a few months ago, in which she is carrying a mattress around campus until her alleged rapist is expelled from campus. Both Sulkowicz and Paul Nungesser, the accused rapist, are frustrated with the way that Columbia has handled the case and its aftermath.
