Penn's Division of Public Safety has opened an investigation into the matter, but as of Oct. 25., they had not found the perpetrator. 

At Santa Monica, a “threat-assessment team” congregates twice a week to discuss students who have been reported as possible threats to themselves or others. Similar teams exist at Virginia Tech and George Washington University. 

Starting this fall, all staff will need to log in to Penn InTouch using a two step verification process.

This week's crime log includes eight incidents of theft, an incident of aggravated assault and two incidents of burglary. 

Benitez will spend one year on probation to complete his program, while Loginov will serve two years on probation to complete his program, according to their respective court dockets.

Called the PRISim Suite Judgement Trainer, the machine lets officers speak with simulated suspects and control simulations of firearms. 

The Division of Public Safety said a UPennAlert was sent because one of the suspected involved was not apprehended, which DPS deemed as an "on-going threat to the community." 

Since the beginning of 2016's fall semester, 726 crimes have been reported on or near Penn's campus. These heat maps visualize the locations of those crimes and break them down by offense.

The consequences of violations across college houses are often inconsistent. For example, smoking in Riepe is a $50 fine, but smoking in Rodin is a $100 fine. 

Penn Police is warning students of an email and text messaging scam targeting and extorting money from members of the University community.

Cariann Hithon, 22, is the third Temple University student to have died this semester. 

"It’s been known for some time that gun violence, like many other forms of crime and other social problems, can be clustered within certain neighborhoods."

A Penn student who witnessed the incident said she was “livid there was no alert” sent out to the Penn community, especially because the man was let go by police. 

“The guy that screws in the light bulb for the President of the University makes more than us, and we protect the whole university," said the Penn Police Association President.
