Thanks to a policy of Penn's Division of Public Safety, if you've failed to properly lock up your bicycle on campus, you may find it waiting for you in the custody of the Penn Police. DPS has a policy of taking unattended and unsecured bicycles on campus without the owner's knowledge.

The University announced yesterday the appointment of stem cell expert John Gearhart as the eighth Penn Integrates Knowledge professor and director of the Institute of Regenerative Medicine. Gearhart is the James Effron University Professor, and he will join the faculty of both the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology in the School of Medicine and the Department of Animal Biology in the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Penn fans who are still uneasy seeing former men's hoops head coach Fran Dunphy on the Temple sidelines may have a little bit longer to get accustomed to the image. On July 16, Temple announced that they had agreed to a two-year extension with Dunphy, which will keep him under contract with the Owls through the 2013-14 season.

The Penn Athletics Department posted job openings for its vacant men's and women's golf coach positions on the NCAA's "Career Center" on Monday. Each position is listed as a 10 month, full-time job. Penn hoops fans staying on campus for Thanksgiving weekend can still satisfy their hunger for college basketball - they just shouldn't expect to see much of the Quakers. The Philly Hoop Group Classic will, for the second year, be taking place Thanksgiving weekend at the Palestra, according to an e-mail from Pete Kirschner, Director of Team Tournaments for The Hoop Group.

Last week, Sports Illustrated compiled a list of the Top 25 College Sports Programs for the 2007-08 year. Surprising many, 14-time Director's Cup defending champion Stanford did not land on top of the list. More surprising to Ivy League fans, though, may be the team coming in at thirteenth: Princeton.

A fire broke out at 4044-46 Walnut St. on Saturday evening, causing no injuries but displacing three Penn students. According to Director of Operations and External Affairs at the Division of Public Safety Stefanie Cella, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

University City has received excellent marks in all subjects on its 2008 District Report Card. According to the report, in the last 10 years UCD has seen a 20-percent decrease in crime , a 16.5-percent increase in employment, improvements in pedestrian lighting and numerous green initiatives.

It took eight years on the National Team and a missed qualification for the 2004 Athens Games, but 2002 College graduate Tom Paradiso is set to take part in the Olympics as a member of the United States rowing team in the lightweight four event.

On Monday, 22-year-old Jocelyn Kirsch, a former Drexel University student, pleaded guilty to six counts of criminal activity - all of which were committed with collaboration from '05 Penn alumnus Edward Anderton. Anderton also pleaded guilty last month to the same six counts, which include money laundering and identity theft.

On July 8, Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse opened its doors for the first time at 18th and Lombard streets, the site that previously housed Graduate Hospital. The $70 million facility - which has a specific focus on rehabilitative services - is the result of a collaboration between the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network.
