M. Golf ties for eighth at Navy Invitational

For 14 years, Scott Allen frequently faced off against Penn as he headed the golf program at George Washington.

This weekend, he got a look from the other side of the tee box. In his first match as head coach of the Quakers men's golf team at the Navy Invitational, Penn faced off against 16 other teams, one of which was tournament winner GW (282-290--572).

The Quakers finished in a tie for eighth with Navy's White team over the two-day event, carding 299-301--600. Penn placed second among the three Ivy teams there - Cornell shot 596 while Brown carded a 627.

One bright spot for the Red and Blue was the play of senior Mike Blodgett. Blodgett, the defending Ivy League champion, went 73-69--142, tying him for fourth place overall.

Rounding out the pack for Penn were Brett Rendina (151 for 33rd overall), Kevin Huntington (152 for 37th), Ben Cohen (160 for 74th) and Bill McCrossan (161 for 76th).
