In what is sure to be an exciting matchup, Penn basketball will take on Harvard University Saturday at the Palestra.
We’ve editorialized in the past about why students should attend more sporting events — to support their teams, to show Penn pride, to have a good time. There are many good reasons.
But we would especially encourage students — particularly those who haven’t attended very many games in the past — to come to this weekend’s Penn-Harvard basketball showdown.
Several factors make this game important.
The Penn-Harvard game has historically been a thrilling one — last year’s was decided by just one point.
This year, Harvard is a strong contender for the Ivy League title. But Penn — on a hot streak after winning its first two Ivy contests against Yale and Brown universities last weekend and favored to beat Dartmouth College on Friday — will be looking to extend its streak.
When you’re there, look out for the battle between the two teams’ star rookies. Harvard’s Laurent Rivard and Penn’s Miles Cartwright are vying for an Ivy title of their own — Rookie of the Year.
The game — which will take place Saturday night at 7 p.m. — is the last time to watch the basketball team in action at home until the end of the month.
So show up, get loud and go Quakers!
