Golfers take eighth at Princeton Invitational

After Saturday's round at the Princeton Invitational, the Penn men's golf team found itself tied with Columbia for first out of 14 teams.

Yesterday, the Quakers improved upon their team 304 from the day before, scoring a 302. Unfortunately for Penn's golfers, the rest of the teams at the match improved much more dramatically on their first-round scores.

When all was said and done, the Red and Blue finished in eighth place with a 38 over 606. Columbia, with whom Penn had been tied, shot a second-day 290 to win the tournament with a 26-over 594.

Dean Merrill paced the Quakers, carding 72 on the first day and 74 on the second (146 overall). That score tied him for fourth in the tournament, while Michael Blodgett finished ninth.
