Quakers among Ivy favorites in week one
The Penn football team is an 18-point favorite for the game against Duquesne on Saturday, according to the sports gaming Web site pinnaclesports.com. If the teams' game from 2003 is any indication, the Quakers will have no problem covering the spread, having beaten the Dukes 51-10. The over/under for the game is at 39 points.
Despite the large spread, the Quakers' is not the largest among the Ivy League teams this weekend.
That distinction goes to Cornell, which is a 20-point favorite over Bucknell. The Bison are coming off losses to Stony Brook and Georgetown -- and the Hoyas are a 19-point underdog this weekend as they will host Brown.
Yale and Harvard are also favorites this week, with the Elis a nine-point pick at San Diego and the Crimson favored by 10 as they visit Holy Cross.
Dartmouth, Columbia and Princeton are all underdogs this week.
The Big Green is a six-point underdog to Colgate, the Tigers have the same spread as they visit Lafayette and Columbia is an 8.5-point underdog to Fordham.
