The Ivy League announced a multi-year contract with Sirius Satellite Radio today.
Sirius will broadcast a "Game of the Week" during the football and men's basketball season. It will also broadcast a select few hockey games, as well retain the rights to broadcast other Ivy sporting events.
All eight Ivy schools will be featured on air at least once during the season.
"We're thrilled to add the Ivy League to our roster of sports offerings on Sirius," said Steve Cohen, Vice President of Sports Programming for Sirius, in a press release. "Not only can alumni and fans of the Ivies follow their teams from anywhere in the country, but fans everywhere will be able to experience some of the most historic rivalries in sports."
"Sirius Satellite Radio offers an outstanding sports lineup and we're very excited to be a part of it," Ivy League Executive Director Jeff Orleans added in the release. "Our League is a truly national one, with our football players alone coming this year from 46 states plus the nation's capital and Canada. Joining with Sirius gives us a wonderful opportunity to provide Ivy League sports to a national and growing audience."
