Temple center Keith Butler leaves school Temple University announced last week that center Keith Butler is leaving the university. The 7-foot-1 Butler did not give any explanation for leaving the school, though Temple head coach John Chaney said it had nothing to do with Butler's academic eligibility.

Butler averaged only 4.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game. He shot 48.4% from the field, but hit 71.8% of his free throws and led the team with 39 blocks. Last year, against Penn, Butler scored three points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Chaney said he had not had contact with any other schools concerning signing Butler.
