The upcoming men's basketball season's game between Villanova and Penn will be held at the Palestra. An independent promoter approached both schools about the possibility of playing the game in Atlantic City. However, the schools ultimately decided to play the game in Philadelphia as part of the Big 5's 50th anniversary season. The Penn athletic department has issued the following statement on the scheduling of the game: "The promoters were informed over a week ago that the game would be played at The Palestra. Penn will always listen to offers concerning venue such as what came up regarding the Penn vs. Villanova contest, but it never was close to becoming a reality that the game would be played in Atlantic City."
