Men's rowing loses at Madiera Cup
The men's heavyweight rowing team dropped two of its three races in the Madiera Cup races against Cornell held Saturday on the Schuylkill River. The men's novice eight won its race with a time of 5:47.3, good for a 12-second margin of victory over the Big Red. The varsity and second varsity eight boats, however, did not fair so well. The second varsity boat lost by only 2.8 seconds in a tight race. In the main event of the day the men's varsity eight boat was edged by an even closer margin of 2.4 seconds, finishing in a time of 5:50.6 It was the fourth straight year the Red and Blue lost the Madiera Cup to Cornell. The rowing team finishes its season June 24 at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.

M. Soccer announces new recruiting class
The men's soccer team announced its newest recruiting class this Monday. The 11 member recruiting class includes a transfer from the University of Maryland. Defender Keith Vereb was a member of the Adidas All-American team in highschool and helped lead Maryland to the NCAA semifinals. He will be joined by 10 freshman from eight states.
