Trustees meetings back on for today

Two of the three University Board of Trustees meetings that were originally scheduled for last Thursday will be held today at the Inn at Penn.

The Budget and Finance and Executive committees will hold meetings to update current projects and discuss future plans.

The facilities and campus planning committee, which was also scheduled to meet last Thursday, will not meet tomorrow, however. For logistical reasons, the committee will instead meet next month.

The meetings were originally postponed in deference to last Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

University President Judith Rodin said that the budget and finance committee will begin discussing a future strategic plan to follow the Agenda for Excellence.

"The intention is to try to begin linking our financial strategic planning to our academic and administrative strategic planning and to have conversations at the very conceptual level," Rodin said.

The executive committee will discuss, among other topics, the changes made in the Health System. Rodin said that many of the trustees on the committee have not met newly appointed Executive Vice President Arthur Rubenstein, who will head the Health System and the School of Medicine.

Though today's meetings will not involve the majority of the University trustees, the full Board of Trustees will meet later this fall.
