Six members of the men's basketball team are competing in the Hank Gathers division of the Sonny Hill League. The Hank Gathers League consists of players at local colleges and athletes that played high school basketball in the Philadelphia area. The league, which holds its games at Temple's McGonigle Hall, will begin its playoff games on Monday. Summer league basketball is prevalent among women, too. But not all the Quakers' women play in the same league. In fact, only Claire Cavanaugh and Diana Caramanico compete together -- in the Philadelphia Department of Recreation League. Caramanico currently leads the league in scoring. The baseball team is also dispersed around the country in wooden-bat summer leagues. Quakers' third baseman Jim Mullen tore up the Atlantic Coast Baseball League by posting a .426 batting average for his Delaware Valley Gulls team to lead the league.
