A robbery was attempted at the Wachovia Bank located in the Domus apartment complex yesterday morning, Division of Public Safety and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials said.
No money was taken and no injuries occurred.
A man entered the bank, located at 34th and Chestnut streets, at about 9:30 a.m. and gave the teller a note demanding money and indicating that he was carrying a gun, officials said.
The teller refused to give the suspect money. The man did not display a weapon and left the bank. He then fled west on Chestnut Street.
FBI officials described the suspect as a black male in his mid-20s to early 30s, between five-foot-five and six feet tall. He was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The FBI and the Southwest Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police are currently investigating the incident. There are no leads as of yet, FBI spokeswoman Jerri Williams said.
