In some ways, being at the bottom of the pole is a blessing. You can ask a million stupid questions and mess up, but it’s OK. The worst you’ll get is, “Silly freshman.”
Most of us were probably standouts in our high school, and now the tables have turned. Or at least, aren’t oriented so much in our favor. But when you’re at or near the top all the time, how much more can you grow?
I never identified myself as a southerner — just someone who lived in the South.
“Breaking Bad” drew the golden line between inconceivable action scenes and soft human emotions.
It’s surprising how quickly we can forget to be aware of things beyond ourselves if we don’t make a conscious effort to do so.
Rather than feeling more oriented to Penn, all of this has left me feeling a bit lost and confused.
