Last Friday, President Amy Gutmann and Vice Provost Vincent Price emailed Penn faculty, students and staff to announce the creation of a new Task Force charged with combating sexual harassment and sexual violence. In the email sent out at 5:22 p.m. on Friday night, Gutmann and Price explained that the goal of the entity is to focus “collective attention and understanding on how best to promote a respectful and healthy campus environment and to ensure that students and their parents and guardians are aware of the high-risk behaviors – many of which violate University policy and would result in sanctions for a recognized student organization – engaged in by these groups.” While we commend university efforts, we believe that creating yet another task force, this time to target off-campus organizations, is not the sole answer.

And then there was one. On Saturday, Penn completed the dream season, defeating Post 41-12. The win gave Penn (7-0) the outright championship, and marked only the second time in school history that the Quakers have finished the season alone at the top of the standings.

While it might be a new season for Penn men’s and women’s swimming and diving, the big names haven’t changed that much.

It may not have been the icing on the cake, but it was a pretty great cake nonetheless. Penn closed out its season in a 1-1 draw at its Princeton rival.

After Harvard cancelled the rest of their men’s soccer season, the Ivy League standings flew wide open.

Penn ended its road trip, falling to Brown and Yale, despite Furrer’s dominance. Penn (10-13, 5-6) lost two tough Ivy matches this week on the road.

It hurts to lose. For all Quakers sports, it hurts to fall to the Tigers. A loss to Princeton hurts no team more than Penn field hockey.

En garde...ready...fencing season! On Saturday, Penn fencing got its season underway with a strong performance at their home exhibition, the Elite Invitational.

Presented by SPEC Connaissance, Kendrick will speak at Irvine Auditorium on Nov. 18 from 7 to 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale on November 7 and are $10 for Penn students.
