Philip Esformes, who orchestrated a $1 billion Medicare scheme, used proceeds to pay former Penn men's basketball coach Jerome Allen a $300,000 bribe to ensure his son's admission to Wharton.

March 10, 2020 was a fateful day for Ivy League athletes, and, as we would later find out, an omen of things to come not only for the sports world, but the planet as a whole. 

After losing stars Jerome Allen and Matt Maloney to the NBA, however, there were big questions about how the Red and Blue would hold up in 1995-96.

Although Stanfield has spent most of her semester in Massachusetts, her new coaches and teammates have kept her up to speed.

Coming off a tough losing streak against the Princeton Tigers and no Ivy League titles in the previous three years, the Quakers knew that something had to change.

On April 13, 1996, Penn inducted its inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame class. Since then, 10 more classes have been elected, with the most recent inducted on May 4, 2019.

Before assuming the head coaching position for the Quakers in 1977, Weinhauer served as Chuck Daly’s assistant for four seasons. He then coached the Red and Blue from 1977 to 1982. 

1995 was yet another impressive year for the Penn's men basketball squad, clinching their third consecutive Ivy League title and securing a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in history.

The Quakers-Tigers series has all the components of a good sports rivalry: close geographical proximity, distinct styles of play, and passion for the game on both sides.

While two seemingly unrelated businessmen may seem to only have sports ownership in common, they share another connection: They’re both Wharton graduates. 

Determined not to be second-best again, Dunphy pulled out all the stops and led his Quakers to an undefeated season, finishing 14-0 in the Ivy League and 22-5 overall.

With a strong freshman class joining a team that had all its starters from the previous year returning, the Quakers entered the 1987 season as favorites to win the league.

Nobody knows when the Ivy League will play again, but we're prepared for anything and are ranking the basketball teams heading into the season. 

Regardless of the level of competition, any great team you come across will be led by a great coach. Within the first three years after the creation of Penn women's basketball, the Quakers played without a coach entirely.

Slajchert is taking classes from home, hasn’t been able to meet any of his teammates in person yet, and found out that his freshman season would be canceled while waiting to enter a Zoom call in his childhood bedroom.
