Van Pelt Library has completed its project to digitize manuscripts produced before 1601, thanks to a two-year grant funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. A second grant was secured in March to digitize manuscripts from 1601 to 1800.

Bike theft around campus is up 77 percent this year to date from last year, according to the Division of Public Safety. The majority of thefts occur when bicycle are improperly locked. INTERACTIVE: Bike theft 2010-2011

Business around campus, such as Blarney Stone and Lee’s Hoagie House, are using Facebook and other social media sites to interact with Penn students. Partly responsible for the trend is Little Guys Consulting, LLC, which was founded by two Penn athletes and has 15 clients in the Philadelphia area.

On Sept. 23, United States prosecutors filed a complaint against Leslie Mosby — the carjacker arrested on 40th and Locust streets last November — seeking to try him in federal court.
