Last week, Falk Dining Commons worker Kenny Blackwell and his wife Carolyn were told something that no one wants to hear: Carolyn Blackwell needed medicine for her cholesterol, but their insurance, which is offered through Aetna by Bon Appétit, would not stretch to cover even the generic version of the drug.

The liquor store at 43rd and Chestnut streets is set to open in just a few months. Barry Grossbach, chair of the Spruce Hill Community Trust expects the “premium” Wine and Spirits Shop to be open sometime in late summer, if not before.

After three weeks of public campaigning, the workers behind the Justice on the Menu campaign are making a decisive push towards unionizing. Today the Teamsters Union announced that 15 full-time employees at Hillel’s Falk Dining Commons will be voting on possible representation.
