A coalition of Penn professors recently launched a new European Studies Institute at the University and revitalized the European studies minor.

The Daily Pennsylvanian examined undergraduate Penn students’ study abroad trends to understand how many students participate, which destinations are the most common, and which students choose to go abroad.

Penn has 21 active contracts and 596 active grants that receive funding through the two agencies — totaling hundreds of millions of dollars — according to U.S. Department of the Treasury fiscal year 2025 data. 

Dean of the Annenberg School for Communication Sarah Banet-Weiser notified the lecturers of the decision in an email sent on March 19.

Affected students have been contacted about the changes to the programs, according to a Wharton spokesperson, who declined to comment on whether federal policy changes influenced the decision.

Every year, the Thouron Award covers tuition and travel fees for up to two years as part of a graduate exchange program between Penn and U.K. universities. 

The Penn Museum’s renovations in the Ancient Egypt and Nubia Galleries are the second part of the Penn Museum’s Building Transformation project, which began in 2014 and reimagines 75% of the museum’s footprint.
