The Daily Pennsylvanian joined the Associated Press Fund for Journalism’s local newsroom program in spring 2026.
The DP joins 100 newsrooms across the country in gaining access to AP stories, photographs, and election tools through the program to adapt national stories for local audiences. The international news organization’s resources and training will allow the DP to expand and improve coverage for readers on Penn’s campus and beyond.
“I’m excited by how this partnership will allow our student journalists to expand the breadth and quality of our coverage,” DP Editor-in-chief Ethan Young said. “We’re grateful to the Associated Press for this opportunity.”
As part of the program, select stories and photographs from the DP will be also shared on the AP wire.
“This expansion is an important step as we continue to scale our program in support of local news across the country,” CEO of APFJ Rachel White said in a press release announcing this year’s program cohort. “In less than a year, we’re already helping local outlets move faster, reach more people, and better serve their communities by providing the content, tools, services, and training they need to grow and sustain their news organizations.”
Launched in 2024, APFJ works to support local news outlets with the “content and support they need.”
