Penn’s Center for Community Standards and Accountability released its annual Hazing Transparency Report earlier this month.
The January 2026 document, published in compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, contains reported incidents of hazing from Penn students and organizations dating back to 2021. According to the report two student organizations were “found responsible for violating the University’s Anti-Hazing Policy” in the 2025-26 academic year.
The report disclosed incidents involving Alpha Iota Gamma, a professional pre-health fraternity known as AIR, and Lotus Society, which is described as an “unrecognized student organization.”
In a statement to The Daily Pennsylvanian, a University Life spokesperson wrote that the “University takes hazing seriously and approaches prevention and accountability as an institution-wide responsibility.”
“Ongoing efforts include required education for student leaders and organizations, regular policy review, collaboration with campus partners and external advocacy organizations,” the spokesperson wrote.
In October 2025, AIR hosted an event in which new members were “ziptied … to one another while being forced to drink a bottle of Champagne.”
CSA’s investigation revealed that the organization had also been “forcing new members to carry a raw egg and other items daily for the benefit of older members” and had “subjected the new members to public belittling” when they failed to complete certain tasks.
The report detailed the subsequent sanctions on AIR, which were communicated to the organization in December 2025.

The professional fraternity was “placed on a social probation” which limits the “social and pre-professional events” that members of the organization can host or attend. AIR is also restricted from “recruiting or admitting any new students” through the 2026-27 academic year.
A request for comment was left with AIR.
According to the document, incidents involving Lotus spanned multiple dates throughout the fall 2025 semester.
CSA found the organization in direct violation of Penn’s Anti-hazing Regulations for requiring new members to “participate in activities between midnight and 8AM” and for arranging mandatory “new member activities that took up more than 10 hours per week during the initiation period.”
These regulations apply to “all University students and student groups, irrespective of whether those groups are recognized, registered, or identified as being affiliated with the University.”
In response to the incidents, CSA required Lotus to “pursue a process of formal recognition” through the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life or the Office of Student Affairs.
A request for comment was left with Lotus.
The document detailed that both AIR and Lotus were ordered to attend mandatory training and receive “educational sanctions” regarding “hazing, event registration, and harm reduction.”
Multiple incidents involving on-campus fraternities and sororities were also included in the report, though they all date prior to the 2025-26 academic year. Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Alpha Mu, Sigma Delta Tau, and Chi Omega were all named in the document.
A request for comment was left with all four organizations.
The Campus Hazing Transparency Report is part of a series of initiatives that Penn uses to report campus safety incidents. Under the Clery Act, higher education institutions are required to document and publish statistics related to campus crime every three years. In December 2024, the Clery Act was amended to require universities to publish additional information specifically related to hazing prevention.
