The Quakers are on a roll.

After winning two out of three games in the Cathedral Classic and four of their last five games, key players have emerged in the early part of the season that have elevated the team’s success. Among those players include standout junior forward transfer TJ Power and freshman center Dalton Scantlebury.

This week, Penn took home two coveted honors. Power received the Big 5 Player of the Week honor and Scantlebury won Ivy League Rookie of the Week and Big 5 Co-Rookie of the Week, along with Villanova’s Acaden Lewis.

Additionally, Power was named to the all-tournament team in the Cathedral Classic over the weekend, after posting a career-high 29 points that propelled the Quakers to a come-from-behind victory against La Salle.

Previously, Power recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds against Merrimack. His first breakout game came against Saint Joseph’s, where he scored 23 points and 15 rebounds on nearly 50% shooting from the beyond the arc. That game was part of the Quakers’ 2-0 sweep of Big 5 pod play to clinch a spot in Big 5 championship game this Saturday.

Power transferred to Penn after stints at Duke and Virginia. Coming out of high school, he was a five-star recruit.

Scantlebury, a native of Chicago, posted 22 points and 13 rebounds, a double-double, against Merrimack. Apart from his offense, Scantlebury showed flashes of his defensive capabilities with three blocks.

Against Hofstra, Scantlebury led the Quakers with six rebounds and eight points. The rookie has seen a lot of action in his first few games and is expected to see an expanded role if his production continues.

The Quakers next take on Villanova in a must-see matchup at Xfinity Mobile Arena in the Big 5 championship game on Saturday. After, they will return to the Palestra to will face Lafayette next Monday.
