The first time you see Penn women’s basketball senior forward Stina Almqvist play, you may think she’s getting lucky. A dominant post-scorer, the Kinna, Sweden native has a knack for finishing tough looks, converting impossible angles, and leaving opposing defenders in dismay. Her stellar footwork and soft touch around the basket has led her to back-to-back seasons as the Quakers’ leading scorer, including a senior campaign in which her 17.7 points per game ranked third in the Ancient Eight and earned her an All-Ivy first team selection.
In addition to her conference recognition, Almqvist was named first team All Big 5 and led the city association in scoring. She also surpassed the 1,000-point mark this season with a 26-point performance against Brown, the 26th player in program history to achieve the feat.
Looking towards the future, Almqvist looks to the professional basketball stage in her home continent of Europe while also taking advantage of her Wharton degree to pursue lucrative finance jobs.
Honorable mentions: Penn women's lacrosse senior attacker Erika Chung, Penn women's tennis senior Eileen Wang
