Disney World might be “Where Dreams Really Do Come True,” but if you’re looking for an alternative, Spring Fling might be your next best bet.
The Social Planning and Events Committee chose “Some Flings Do Come True” as its theme for Spring Fling 2010, which will take place April 16-17.
“It’s a very magical, Disney-like theme,” SPEC Spring Fling Co-Director and College junior Talisa de Carlo said. “I think of Fling as our last hurrah — our final exciting moment before we have to dig into our books for finals.”
SPEC Secretary and College senior Eileen McKeown said the theme was chosen after a majority of SPEC members voted for it.
Potential themes are generated by SPEC members and compiled by the organization’s Spring Fling directors, who pick the top ideas and put them to a vote.
The theme will serve as the basis for an annual T-shirt and merchandise design contest. Designs are due to SPEC Feb. 22.
“We thought it really embodied what we thought about Fling,” said SPEC Spring Fling Co-Director Lilun Li, a College sophomore.
Li added that she did not know when the organization would choose a performer for its concert.
