The Division of Public Safety posted a notification on its web site following the occurrence of four unrelated violent crimes over the last three days.

Two robberies, an assault and a purse snatching were reported, according to the alert. In all four incidents, the complainant was walking alone at night.

"Even though they're different criminals, their M.O.s are the same," said Vice President for Public Safety Maureen Rush.

The alert urges students to take advantage of the PennWalk walking escort service and the PennTransit vehicle escort service, available at 215-898-WALK and 215-898-RIDE, respectively.

Rush advised students to remain "on guard" at all times, recommending they not wear headphones or talk on a cell phone while walking around campus.
