W. Hoops | Seton Hall tops Penn

The last time Carrie Biemer scored fewer than 10 points in a game was last Jan. 15, in a 67-50 loss at Seton Hall.

As fate would have it, Biemer's 27-game double-digit scoring streak was snapped on Monday by that same Seton Hall team, as the senior captain was held to nine points and zero rebounds. Not surprisingly, the team fared even worse than last year, as Seton Hall coasted to a 76-49 victory at the Palestra.

It was an unusual stat line for Biemer, who is rarely a distributor in the Quakers offense - she had compiled only six assists in 14 games this season - but had three assists in the first half against the Pirates.

Seton Hall controlled play in the first half, totaling 45 points, with senior Noteisha Womack leading the way with 13 points and six rebounds in only 14 minutes of play. The Quakers shot an efficient 50 percent from the field in the half, but they coughed the ball up 11 times and trailed by 13 at the break.

Seton Hall forward Kandice Green, one of four Pirates to score in double-figures, recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Seton Hall pushed the lead to as many as 29 points in the second half as Penn never threatened.

Penn was led by forward Jerin Smith, who scored 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting and recorded six rebounds, but it was not enough to keep the game close.
