The Undergraduate Assembly traveled across campus to Harrison Rooftop Lounge on Sunday night, where pizza and cookies were provided in an effort to attract students.
The meeting, moved for the night as part of UA Cross Campus, focused on a number of initiatives aimed to better on- and off-campus student activities.
n Student Life Committee members Engineering sophomore Aaron Goodman, a Daily Pennsylvanian photographer, Wharton freshman Dong Chen and Facilities Committee member and College sophomore Lucia Liu spoke about a proposal that would discount SEPTA rides for Penn students.
Before the proposal is drafted, these UA members will issue a school-wide survey to determine how many students use SEPTA, why students choose other forms of transport, and whether students would benefit from a student-discounted SEPTA pass system.
The committee will approach SEPTA after it gauges student interest.
n Housing Committee members and College freshman Adam Bloch and College sophomore Charlie Slominski spoke about creating a sister-hall program that would link freshmen from a hall in one college house to those in a hall from another college house.
Subsequent discussion among body members focused on whether such a program would be financially feasible or useful for student networking and how the program would be promoted during New Student Orientation.
n The Student Planning and Events Committee may move the Spring Fling concert back to Franklin Field to increase capacity.
It is considering combining the SPEC and SPECTRUM Fling concerts into one, so as to offer big headliner instead of two lesser-knowns. SPEC is still in discussions about this.
n Penn Transit is working to place two additional token dispensers on campus in order to increase student use of public transportation. Locations are yet to be decided.
