Two University employees, one male and one female, were robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday at about 5:55 p.m. on the 4100 block of Pine Street, Philadelphia and Penn Police officials said.

Neither complainant was injured in the incident, Division of Public Safety officials said.

The complainants were walking westbound on the north side of Pine Street when they were approached by two males, one of whom was carrying a gun, DPS spokeswoman Karima Zedan said.

The suspects demanded the complainants' possessions at gunpoint.

They took the male employee's wallet, which contained $20 in cash and assorted credit cards, and the female employee's pocketbook, which held her cell phone, keys and wallet. The wallet contained a credit card and $23 in cash, Zedan said.

The suspects fled eastbound on Pine to 41st Street, she said.

One alleged attacker, a 17-year-old West Philadelphia male, was arrested Wednesday night.

His name was not released because he is a juvenile.

The Philadelphia Police arrested the suspect after responding to another alleged robbery that occurred at 46th and Pine streets at around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker said.

The police pursued on foot and apprehended two males on 46th and Sansom streets sometime between 11:30 p.m. and midnight. The suspects matched the descriptions given by the victims in the 46th and Pine streets robbery and were arrested, Walker said.

One of the males arrested was identified as one of the men who allegedly committed the robbery on the 4100 block of Pine Street, Zedan said.

That individual has been linked to a total of six robberies in the University City District, but the only robbery that occurred in the Penn Police patrol zone was the one in the 4100 block of Pine Street, Zedan said.

She also said the suspect will go through the juvenile criminal-justice system.

Walker said the police have not identified a second suspect and as of yet have no leads in the case.
