February is almost over, and officials still have not made a decision on a replacement for Webmail.
Vice Dean of Administration and Finance Ramin Sedehi said the school remains locked in negotiations, despite the most-recently set deadline having passed at the end of January.
He stressed that negotiations were a two-party process.
"It's not just me making a choice - there is negotiation involved," Sedehi said.
The University is choosing between Microsoft and Google to replace its current SAS Webmail server. Sedehi will not say which company the University prefers.
He has also repeatedly said he will not disclose details of the negotiations, citing privacy issues.
The process to switch from Webmail has dragged on for nearly a year now. It was first announced that Penn was considering outsourcing its e-mail service in April of last year.
After a fall plagued with system crashes, officials had promised a new service by the end of November, a deadline that was pushed back first to the beginning of the spring semester and then to the end of January.
