W. Track grabs ninth at ECACs in Boston

The Penn women's track team garnered multiple honors at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships while the men competed at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind., last week.

The women finished ninth at the ECACs and were led by sophomore Jess Carlin, who won the 500-meters for the second year in a row, posting a time of 1:11.80. That mark was only three-hundredths of a second away from the school record, which Carlin holds.

Freshman Whitney Tagliavini finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 6-inches.

Relays continued to be some of the Quakers' top events, as Penn placed in three relays.

The distance medley relay team of junior Christina Morrison, sophomore Shaunee Morgan, and sophomores Stacy Kim and Claire Kim finished third with a time of 11:19.40. That time broke the program record in the event.

Penn took fifth in the 4x400-meter, as Carlin, Morrison, senior Dana McCurdy and sophomore Hayley Cusack finished in 3:46.50.

In the 4x800m, freshman Kinjal Parikh, Morrison, sophomore Stacy Kim and sophomore Jamie Liberti ran a time of 8:58.45 for a third-place finish.

On the men's side, senior Courtney Jaworski placed fourth in the 800m at Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invitational. His time was 1:49.32.

The NCAA Championships were held in Fayetteville, Ark., last Friday and Saturday. Two Ivy League athletes placed in the top four of their respective events. Cornell's Morgan Uceny and Princeton's Cack Ferrell finished fourth in the 800m and 3,000m, respectively.
