The CVS drugstore at 39th and Walnut streets is scheduled to move in three months, and students say they will still be willing to make the trek to the its new location.
Construction on the chain's 34th and Walnut streets location is under way.
"I don't care" about the move, College junior Peter Pantelis said. "It's usually the place where, on the way to somewhere, you can stop by."
Another CVS branch is currently located at 43rd and Locust streets.
"I live in Harrison [College House], so [the 34th Street location] is less convenient, but I have classes around there, so it's not a huge deal," Wharton sophomore Michael Meckler said.
Many students even feel that the move is for the better.
"I think it might actually help, since CVS has a lot of stuff you would buy at Fresh Grocer," a supermarket located at 40th and Walnut streets near the current CVS location, Wharton sophomore Greg Morillo said. "Perhaps if it's further [east], people who would otherwise go to Fresh Grocer or CVS only [now] have an option."
The CVS on 34th Street will be part of a larger reconstruction of the Food Court, formerly known as Moravian Cafes, which was originally scheduled to open in October but has been delayed several times. The CVS -- a subdivision of the old complex -- is scheduled to open in the spring.
To gauge how students and faculty wanted to fill the remaining space, Facilities and Real Estate Services spokesman Tony Sorrentino said Facilities held focus groups with the Undergraduate Assembly's Facilities Committee, Penn Law students and faculty with offices nearby. The Law School is located near the Food Court.
"In the end, CVS made perfect sense to us because we already worked with them successfully, and as it turned out they were already interested in relocating to 34th and Walnut streets," he added.
Several students, however, said the move is an inconvenience.
"I'd rather it be [at 39th Street] just because I live here. But that just means that [CVS is] going to lose my business, and I'm going to go to" the Fresh Grocer, College sophomore Sandeep Mirani said.
