Two robberies in one week may not seem like a crime spree. But it is certainly cause for concern about safety around Harrison College House. With construction fencing closing off that area, a dark corridor has been created out of the view of security guards.

As long as that fencing is up, the University should increase monitoring of the areas which are not visible from Locust Walk. This may require positioning guards outside of Harrison. If that's what it takes, it should be done.

The most recent incident -- an alumnus being robbed of $60 -- may not seem like a big deal. But given that there are thousands of students walking in that area every night, extra precautions must be taken.

This is only a temporary situation, but there should be no lapse in security as a result of a construction project.
