Senior Katy Cross of the women's soccer team added another honor to a lengthy list, as she was named the ESPN Academic All-American of the Year for 2004.
Cross is the first Penn student-athlete to receive this distinction, and the third in Ivy League history.
Cross became Penn's first Academic All-America honoree last season, when she scored 16 goals. She followed that up in 2004 with 12 goals.

14 All-Ivy selections for Penn football in 2004
The Penn football team received 14 All-Ivy selections, including five on the first team.
Senior cornerback Duvol Thompson and senior punter Josh Appell led the way, with each earning unanimous selections to the first team.
Joining them on the first team are senior wide receiver Dan Castles, senior defensive lineman Michael Sangobowale and senior linebacker Luke Hadden.
The Quakers were also well-represented on the second team, with Bobby Fallon, Michael Pierce and Sam Mathews all making the squad.
Don Snyder, Chris Mizell, Casey Edgar, Michael Johns, Kevin Stefanski and Pat McDermott received honorable mention.
