Penn Softball coach Carol Kashow's contract will not be extended and thus she has coached her final game at Warren Field. The contract expires on June 30, and after such time Kashow will no longer be a Penn employee. The decision came out of a meeting on the morning of Monday May 5 between Penn Athletic Director Steve Bilsky, Associate Athletic Director Earl Cleghorn and Kashow. Kashow, Cleghorn and Bilsky could be reached for comment. The decision not to have the contract renewed was characterized as a "joint decision" by Penn's Director of Athletic Communications, Carla Shultzberg. "They decided together it was time to make a change," Shultzberg added. In her six years at Warren field, Kashow had a record of 84-161-2. In only one of those years did the team record 15 wins, and in two seasons the team had 30 or more losses. But perhaps the most staggering statistic from Kashow's tenure came in 2001, when seven players quit the team, with many citing Kashow as the reason to The Daily Pennsylvanian.
